The results of the Parish Council survey (see below) into village attitudes to the Packington Post magazine were made public on Tuesday 13th April 2010 at the meeting of the Packington Parish Council. Councillors and the public were shown the responses to the survey conducted in the village and on the web during March. Of 311 village residences, 126 households completed the survey either on paper or on the Parish Council's website, a return of over 40%. Of those responding, an OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of 110 agreed or strongly agreed (blue and red in the above pie chart) that the Parish Council should keep on supporting the Packington Post - while only 9 disagreed (purple and cyan). |

The elected councillors of our Packington Parish Council seem generally keen NOT to spend our money - anyone who has attended some of their monthly meetings will know of their painstaking dedication to avoiding waste. They aim to keep our village precept (the village part of Council Tax) as low as possible. You can come along to any of their meetings to observe what they do - usually on the second Tuesday in the month, Eg 9th March, 13th April 2010.
The Parish Council have so far been very keen to continue with the village magazine, but now want to know what YOU think, and have asked village residents to complete a survey.
Each household has had a paper copy delivered already, and an online copy is available to be completed

These are difficult economic times, and one suggestion for reducing the precept has been made in the village. The Parish Council pays about £6 per household to cover most of the printing cost of the bi-monthly village magazine, the Packington Post. If you pay Council Tax, you are paying that £6 a year - that's about £1 for each copy.
