Little Lane Bridge to be replaced to minimise flood risk
A meeting of the Development Control Board of Leicestershire County Council held on 18th December  approved the replacement of Little Lane Bridge by a single span bridge with open balustrades to reduce the risk of it causing a blockage in times of high water flow and contributing to the flooding of Mill St and houses in Homecroft Drive. The submission was by LCC supported by NWLDC, Packington Parish Council and the Environment Agency.
Five village residents attended the meeting. Three members of FLOAT, Wes Ewing, Graham Saunt, Steve Plummer and Ian Dring on behalf of the Parish Council spoke in support of the proposal and John Muggleston, Measham Road, voiced his concerns and opposition to the plan.
It was approved by a vote of 12 to 2.
