Traffic Calming in Packington on Ashby Road / Normanton Road
<== If you see THIS inbound from Ashby...Then expect to perhaps see THIS soon in your mirror ==>

- and perhaps hope that this figure on the Cleartone Speed display - 28mph - was yours!
Tuesday 17th February 2009 mid-Morning
As part of village traffic-calming initiatives, our local police team were active assessing the speed of vehicles in two places on approaches to Packington today.
Shown above, PC John Pearson on Ashby Road holds the Cleartone SpeedLaser hand-held speed recording device, while assisted by a colleague ready to record vehicle registrations.
At a second location, the junction of Normanton Road with Coleorton Lane, PCSO Aaron Bell (left in the photo, below) kept watch by an automatic speed display, with a colleague again poised to record registrations. This roadside display shows the speed of a vehicle directly to its driver, and is usually observed by the police from some distance away. Good job the two PCSOs were looking at the camera?
