Travellers set-up camp in Normandy Wood, Measham Road

On Thursday 12th November two traveller caravans were spotted amongst the trees in the Normandy Wood Memorial area on Measham Road.

The 2 substantial padlocks on the overhead barrier gate had been forced prior to entry to the site.

PC 1445 Richard Watson is covering for our local beat officer PC Pearson for the next few weeks. He quickly contacted the local authority, and with their representatives took prompt action which resulted in the travellers being persuaded to leave the site by Friday.

Well done PC Watson - thank you. This memorial wood, especially during this Armistice week, should have been respected.
