Ashby and District forum meeting 23rd November results

On Monday 23rd November over 40 residents from the Ashby & District Forum area covering Ashby, Packington, Oakthorpe, Donisthorpe, Appleby, Measham, Snarestone, Swepstone, & Normanton attended a meeting at Ivanhoe College to influence how £20,000 could be allocated and spent on worthy projects in the area.
Initially the attendees were placed in small groups to discuss projects that were to be submitted by those present. Following this each proposer was allowed one minute to present an outline of their project to the whole audience. This was followed by questions from the floor. A total of 17 projects/ideas were submitted.
Using an instant electronic voting unit everyone awarded marks out of nine to each project and the results are below.
 
Packington residents put forward two projects for consideration:-
 
Option 7 belowKate Last of Heather Lane is heavily involved in the Hospice Hope Charity and asked for support for the charity to enable it to carry on it's work in supporting terminally ill by providing specialist beds at home during the critical phase of the illness.
Option 12 below.  Chris Miles of Babelake St. asked for support to purchase Table Tennis and Badminton Equipment for the newly refurbished Memorial Hall
 
 
 
The top nine projects - including the two from Packingtonwhere then shortlisted for the delegates to then vote again by identifying their top three projects for support and the results are below.
Kate Last gained a creditable 4th place for Hospice Hope Hospice and Chris Miles came in 8th for the Memorial Hall.
The County Council will now evaluate all the proposals and look at detailed costings to determine what is feasable and just how many of those 9 projects can be supported in the order of the final vote.
The next Community Forum meetings for this Area will take place on 25th February 2010,-
any resident in the area can attend these Forum meetings and information of the location and times will be issued closer to the date.

At that meeting it is hoped to announce how the funding will be allocated with the money being available in March. The grant has to be spent by March 2011.
