Community Speed Watch to be operational from June 2010

Community Speed Watch

- Set to be Operational in June 2010

Leicestershire County Council and Leicestershire Constabulary have now confirmed that the community speedwatch scheme will commence in the village during the summer of 2010.

Training has been arranged for the village's community speed-watch volunteers, and will take place from Monday 24th May to Thursday 27th May 2010 at 7pm at the Memorial Hall

We may not always be keen on seeing yellow jackets, dayglow-striped white cars with blue lights, and black radar speed guns, especially if we are driving, but their presence makes a marked difference to the speed at which vehicles traverse our narrow village roads.
This piece of equipment is typical of that used by the police themselves to record vehicle speeds

Community volunteers may use different equipment, which records vehicle registrations and speed evidence.  Speeding motorists are to be contacted by police after the event.

Further information is available from parish Councillor Bob Martin, telephone 01530 413030
